A VERY INSPIRATIONAL STORY THAT WILL TOUCH YOUR LIFE AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. I loved this book so much, I purchased additional copies for my friends. One of my friends is actually using it in a bible study. I found the author’s ability to link everyday mishaps and storms to the teachings of the Bible very inspirational. Her life story is fascinating and is very familiar to many of us. It was helpful for me to write my own prayers after each segment. It was a good way to reflect on my own life and I found myself thanking God for the shelter he has provided me during my stormy life. BIBLICALLY SATURATED SOUND GUIDANCE FROM A WOMAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART. This book definitely poured from the author’s heart! At times I felt like I was reading my dear friend’s diary–in a good way! In her book she shares her conversations with God; the reader will find the author’s thoughts as well as Scripture she has been led to as she listened to hear his voice. This book is filled to the brim with lessons she has learned on her walk with Christ. I pray that God uses this book to draw you closer as you walk with him into his life everlasting.

VERY INSPIRATIONAL. Umbrella in The Storm is a wonderful book. Barbara Shoner’s writing has a way of bringing you so close to God, through her trials and testimonies. It reads almost like a diary, telling of her life and the storms she has endured and how she uses Jesus as her Umbrella of protection. Through scripture she helps you to find your Umbrella. UMBRELLA IN THE STORM: HOW THE LORD WILL BLESS WHEN A PERSON GIVES HER ALL TO HIM. Umbrella in the Storm is an honest, down-to-earth book that makes a person want to read the next chapter. It is well-written and full of scripture, telling not only Samantha’s story but Barbara’s own growth in accepting God’s gift of her first child. Barbara is not a stay-at-home writer! She is a very busy and talented lady and is sold out to the Lord! Her family has gone on mission trips to many countries. They came to Japan for the first time many years ago and now Samantha lives and serves the Lord here in Japan and we see her almost every month at our International Nights.

The title says it all! Living under the umbrella of our Father’s dominion is the only safe place to dwell. Barbara has been given the gift to impart her life experiences in a simple and understanding way that is founded on God’s Word and His faithfulness. Her tenacity to dare to trust and believe God has been an inspiration and encouragement to me. My faith has been nourished by her testimony and her faithfulness.
